Meet The Team: Hasan Zia

Hasan Zia is currently a third-year undergraduate pre-health student at Rutgers University, pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology. Hasan’s journey into research began with an enriching internship at APSEA 501(c)(3), where he delved deep into clinical research areas spanning endocrinology, cardiology, and psychiatry. His dedication and perseverance to this internship was shown through multiple accepted and published letters to editors and systematic reviews in renowned journals. Beyond academic pursuits, Hasan is deeply committed to fostering professional development and mentorship of others. Drawing inspiration from his own mentors, he established Lumina Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing the professional growth of pre-health students. His passion extends further as the Director of Communications for Refugee Health Connection, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aimed at delivering medical literacy to refugees. Simultaneously, Hasan works as a volunteer for other organizations, including aiding an ESL class dedicated to immigrants. At the heart of his interests lies a genuine passion for mentoring and elevating others, whether it’s through research or community service, Hasan believes mentorship is the best way to empower others. Hasan’s current research interests are centered around dentistry, anesthesia, pain management, and physical medicine rehabilitation. His free-time hobbies include hiking, traveling, and spending time with family.
